Porter Hedges Pro Bono Committee is pleased to announce the successful completion of a complex immigration case on behalf of an unaccompanied minor seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and work authorization. This ten-year effort was achieved in collaboration with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable children in the United States.

The case was led by Megan Luh, who demonstrated exceptional dedication and legal expertise throughout the proceedings. Megan's tireless advocacy on behalf of this child exemplified compassion, justice, and a commitment to community service.

Megan was assisted by Lorena Valle, who played a crucial role in navigating the intricacies of the immigration landscape. Together, they secured a positive outcome for our client, granting them a pathway to lawful permanent residency and the ability to work in the United States.

SIJS classification offers a vital path to stability for young immigrants who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment by a parent. Our attorneys' commitment ensured the client's rights were protected and their well-being was prioritized throughout the legal process. We are proud of their dedication, which reflects our firm's ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations.
